Pet Loss Workshop for Families

This hands-on workshop for children in grades K-6 will be led by Graduate Interns and an LICSW at our nature center.

For many children, a pet is a best friend, a family member, and a source of comfort. When that companion dies, the grief can feel big, confusing, and sometimes overwhelming.

Because pet loss isn’t always talked about openly, children can feel alone in their sadness. This group offers a caring, supportive space to honor beloved pets, share stories, and make sense of big feelings together.

This workshop will be led by graduate interns and a licensed mental health counselor at our nature center. In addition to guided conversation, we will make a memorial for our pets and families will have individual time with our therapy animals. Families will leave with tools for coping, remembering, and staying connected to the love they shared with their pet.

Please know that we understand grief is heavy enough, and finances shouldn’t add to it. If the cost is a barrier at the moment, please email me, at swirtanen@nature-connection.org and we’ll find an option that works.

Please note we share our space with animals, so you may notice the natural scents and sounds of small animals. If you’re sensitive to smells or have allergies, please keep this in mind.
