Concord Band Concert: “Scenes”
The Concord Band presents its fall concert, entitled “Scenes” after the suite, Scenes from “The Louvre”, written for band by composer Norman Dello Joio. Dello Joio adapted his original score from a television documentary, depicting five classic artworks from the museum’s famous collection. In keeping with this theme, Music Director James O’Dell also selected Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The program includes Of Sailors and Whales by W. Francis McBeth, inspired by Herman Melville’s iconic novel, Moby Dick. The program also features Iditarod by Robert Buckley, evoking the epic adventure of the Alaskan dog sled race, and Ireland: Of Legend and Lore by Robert W. Smith. A multimedia presentation will accompany the music. The concert is free with donations requested of $20. Free refreshments will follow the concert.
