New to town, new parents or just want some new experiences?

The good news is you’re in the right place…

Concord has numerous clubs and organizations that offers a wide variety of experiences and opportunities to meet people, get involved, learn new things, be active and intellectually stimulated!

New (or new in last few years) to Concord-Carlisle area? Consider signing up for Concord Carlisle Neighbors Club. Concord-Carlisle Neighbors is a social organization whose membership welcomes new families moving into these towns.  CCN provides social support and planned activities to help individuals and families adjust and feel part of life in their new environment. CCN also connects long term residents with each other to strengthen the community network. They host all sorts of events – something geared for every age.

Are you new to Concord with young kids or a new parent living in Concord? Concord Family Network is a non-profit, volunteer-run group of local parents, based in Concord, Massachusetts working to unite, inform, and engage local families with young children (birth-6 years).  CFN organizes many opportunities for member families to connect and have fun in a safe environment throughout the year from hosting casual parent and child events, meetups, and parties, to partnering with other location organizations and doing community outreach.

Summer Quest combines the best of each site:

  • Minute Man’s history activities
  • The Land Trust’s botany explorations
  • OARS’ river adventures
  • The Umbrella’s eco-art projects
  • Drumlin Farm’s nature journaling

Subject activities are also being offered by The Old Manse, The Concord Free Public Library, The Concord Museum, Walden Woods Project, The Concord Division of Natural Resources, and Ninjas in Nature (Holy cow! That’s a lot of fun places to explore)

We know this summer is different, maybe you won’t be heading to camp, taking a vacation in a far away place, or even seeing your friends as often, but we hope Summer Quest can help make a summer at home a lot more fun. Right here in your own back yard, town, and community you can play outdoors, become an expert on local wildlife, explore history, and create fun art and nature projects.

What will you learn? What new places will you explore? What new skills will you develop? Gather your family, choose some activities and go find out!

If you have any questions about the program or how to complete the activities, please contact us.

Thoreau and The Miracle of Poetry: An Earth Day, Birthday, and National Poetry Month Celebration

About the event: “A poem is one undivided, unimpeded expression fallen ripe into literature,” Thoreau wrote in A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers. “Much verse,” he said, “fails of being poetry because it was not written exactly at the right crisis, though it may have been inconceivably near to it. It is only by a miracle that poetry is written at all.”

The WWP hosted the first Thoreau and The Miracle of Poetry event in 2021. Due to its incredible response, we’re hosting our second poetry event on our campus in Lincoln, MA. Join us and three contemporary poets, who will read from their work in the spirit of Thoreau. A wine and cheese reception with the poets will precede the reading.

Location: The Walden Woods Project HQ, Lincoln, MA (address provided upon registration).

Sponsored by The Commons in Lincoln.
