Join this series on understanding and interacting with Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) practices in education for parents and anyone interested in learning what DEI is and how it can be practiced inclusively and constructively. This series will include three ninety-minute sessions, each with a different focus that will support participants in learning about DEI and what they can do to support DEI best practices in education.
Session 1 – You’ve got to Be Carefully Taught
How does my socialization (how I was raised and taught) inform my perspective and parenting regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion?
Session 2 – Private Beliefs versus Public Tolerance?
Is it possible to reconcile beliefs, values, and world views that seem in conflict with what DEI is about?
Session 3 – Preparing for Constructive Partnership
How can I support what my kids are learning at school regarding DEI? What should I know, and how should I talk with my kids about crucial issues related to DEI topics? What resources can I use to gain clear and factual information about DEI related topics?
