Understanding & Engaging with Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in our Schools

March 28 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join this series on understanding and interacting with Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) practices in education for parents and anyone interested in learning what DEI is and how it can be practiced inclusively and constructively. This series will include three ninety-minute sessions, each with a different focus that will support participants in learning about DEI and what they can do to support DEI best practices in education.

Session 1 – You’ve got to Be Carefully Taught
How does my socialization (how I was raised and taught) inform my perspective and parenting regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion?

Session 2 – Private Beliefs versus Public Tolerance?
Is it possible to reconcile beliefs, values, and world views that seem in conflict with what DEI is about?

Session 3 – Preparing for Constructive Partnership
How can I support what my kids are learning at school regarding DEI? What should I know, and how should I talk with my kids about crucial issues related to DEI topics? What resources can I use to gain clear and factual information about DEI related topics?

This program will be offered as a hybrid course – during registration please select the section that you plan to attend. This program is free of charge thanks to the generous sponsorship of CCACE, CPS and CCRSD Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, Alcott PTG, Willard PTG, Thoreau PTG, and CMS PTG. We ask for a suggested donation of $30 to support our continuing Parent Education programs and ensure we can continue to offer financial assistance for all CCACE programs.
