The Zealot and the Emancipator

Concord Museum’s 8th Annual Sally Lanagan Lecture will feature gifted storyteller and bestselling historian H.W. Brands speaking on his new book, The Zealot and the Emancipator on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 7:00 pm. The book recounts the epic struggle over slavery as embodied by John Brown and Abraham Lincoln – two men moved to radically different acts to confront our nation’s gravest sin.

H.W. Brands is a distinguished professor of American history at the University of Texas, Brands is hyper prolific scholar the author of more than two dozen books on subjects ranging from the life of Benjamin Franklin to Lyndon B. Johnson’s foreign policy.
