Lizzie Upitis is a master knitter and historian who has published a book of traditional designs and techniques in Latvian Mittens. We are proud to welcome her to the COA for a special exhibit and presentation of her beautiful mittens. Mittens hold deep significance in Latvian culture, particularly in marriage rites, and Lizzie will share the rich history behind these traditions. She will also include traditional knitting songs, making the program both fascinating and deeply moving.
