The Walden Project “Climate Change: What Would Thoreau Say?”

September 14, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

There is still time to register for “Climate Change: What Would Thoreau Say?” on September 14th at 7:00 pm!

Henry David Thoreau was an astute observer of the natural world and kept careful records in his journal. Richard Primack at Boston University has compared Thoreau’s observations to those current in Walden Woods. Scientist Bill Moomaw will share current insights and proposals for addressing and adapting to a changing climate and speculate about how Thoreau might react were he here today. Would his commitment to simplicity prevent him from endorsing or adopting climate friendly technologies like solar panels? What would be his reaction to the changes taking place in Nature, about which he cared deeply. Finally, what are some of his words of wisdom that might inspire us to more effective action?
