No other plant has influenced the history of so many countries as camellia sinensis—tea. From China, India, and Russia, to Japan, England, the Middle East, and the U.S., tea has played a major role in trade, technology, religion, politics, and artistry. Today, it’s the most popular drink in the world—and its popularity keeps growing. While all teas come from the same plant, there are hundreds of varietals, from robust black teas, plummy oolongs, and spicy ceylons, to toasted whites, delicate greens, and aromatic blends. We’ll taste at least nine top-quality ones from tea-growing regions around the world. You’ll also learn how to make chai and take home plenty of samples. Sweet and savory snacks will be served to complement the tastings. Bring one or two of your favorite cups.
