One third of US adults report that they usually get less than the recommended amount of sleep. Not getting enough sleep has been linked to many chronic diseases, conditions, and injuries. Sleep disturbances and sleep disorders can increase a person’s risk of health problems. Sleeping well is a powerful tool for health of both body and mind. Please join Geriatric Health Nurse Valerie Boggia on Tuesday, October 18th at 1:30 PM for a Listen & Learn on sleep. Valerie will discuss the benefits of sleep, why sleep is so important, and health concerns related to not getting enough sleep. She will review the reasons why you may have trouble sleeping and offer helpful suggestions for a better night’s sleep. Sleep disorders that lead to sleep deprivation will be discussed. Please bring your concerns, questions, and suggestions to share. Please call the COA to sign up for this in-person presentation: 978-318-3020.
