Mara Biere, Certified Family Life Educator, President, Grow A Strong Family, Inc. (www.growastrongfamily.org) will facilitate a support group at the Gleason Public Library.

Mara will guide the discussion on “Finding the person in the illness.” When our loved ones are diagnosed with a mental illness or behavioral health issue, family members often get caught up in learning about and managing the symptoms, losing sight of our loved ones as people with an illness. This approach may undermine our families. Surely, we can find more effective ways to manage the care we so willingly offer our loved ones without losing ourselves or them in the process. The discussion includes some strategies for managing more efficiently and respectfully.
