Artisans Way, a fine art and contemporary craft gallery in Concord, welcomes Liliana Glenn, glass jewelry designer and maker for a trunk show. She will be in the gallery on April 30 from 11-5 to share her work and offer the opportunity for people to design and assemble their own earrings and necklaces. Working directly with Liliana, people will be utilizing a variety of components featuring her lampworked and blown glass beads.
Originally from Moldova, Liliana grew up surrounded by handmade objects imbued with care, technique, and beauty. Mostly self-taught, she has been a designer, maker, and teacher for the last 20 years. “Glass is a wonderful prism through which to see the natural beauty that surrounds me,” says Liliana, “I’m drawn to color and its inevitable encounter with light.” Liliana practices the art of flameworking. She creates all her glass objects in a torch flame with a glass rod in hand by winding onto a steel rod and often blowing into a steel pipe to create hollow beads and vessels.
Liliana’s highly acclaimed teaching style is grounded in her teaching philosophy that emphasizes a playful and adaptive approach to flameworking. Building on the individual students experience and interest in glass bead design and style is at the core of her workshops. Plans for a potential workshop on beadmaking will be discussed at the trunk show.
