ACTING AS PLAY
(Grades 5-7; Instructor: Brian Pollack) Get out of your brain and into your body! In this class, we will play all kinds of theatre games, get silly, and laugh a LOT! You will learn how to throw your whole self into the game with ferociousness, listen to your gut, say YES, and laugh at your fears in the face. We call them “Plays” for a reason – our favorite characters on stage risk it all to go after what they want with dedication and joy. In this class we will learn how to play games with that same hunger for winning, but still celebrate and laugh at ourselves when we mess up. Limit 16 students. $120 for each workshop or $215 for both.

ACTING SHAKESPEARE
(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Brian Pollack; Monday 12/21, 4:00-7:00pm) Curious what the big whoop is about Shakespeare? Nervous about how to act in a Shakespeare play at school, or have trouble understanding it? Shakespeare’s plays are full of juicy plot lines, hilarious comedy, and big bold characters — endless fun for actors! But sometimes his old poetic language and the way we talk about him can make Shakespeare a bit intimidating, right? In this workshop, we will start with the basics to learn how to break down Shakespeare’s language and poetry and how to activate it in your body, so you not only know what you’re saying but actually have fun saying it! Soon you’ll see how wild and fun Shakespeare can really be! Limit: 16 Students. Tuition: $90
THE GOOD-N-FUNNY SHOW WORKSHOP
(Grades 8-12; Instructor: Brian Pollack; Sat 12/19 & Sun 12/20, 2:30-5:30pm) Dive into the metaphorical sandbox and discover your inner funny bone! In this workshop, we will use silly games, whacko exercises, and absurd prompts to unlock our most honest selves and find what makes us laugh. Fight your fears and identify your inhibitions onstage to work toward that messy, scary, FUN place of absolute generosity and vulnerability. Working in pairs, groups, and solo, we will have a blast creating original mini-shows called “Good-n-Funny Shows.” Limit: 16 students. Tuition: $180
CYT JAM SESH!
(Grades 8 and up (alums welcome!) Instructor; Brian Pollack; Mon 12/28 & Tue 12/29, 2:30-5:30pm) Unleash your inner freak! Do you like blasting music and jamming out in your room? Spontaneously bursting into song about random things? Cracking yourself up about nothing? Then this workshop is perfect for you. Let’s end 2020 on a high note, with an epic jam to celebrate our beloved CYT family! Silliness, games, and intentionally bad dancing abound in this workshop. No politeness, no worrying, no apologizing- nothing but absolute gen-u-ine FUN. Permission to freak out: granted. Limit: 20 Students. Tuition $180
BROADWAY DANCE WORKSHOP
(Grades 3-6; Instructor: Ella Grandprey; 12/19 & 12/20 5:45-7:00pm) Ella’s home from college! This is a special opportunity to dance with her like old times! Love all those big musical theater dance numbers? Come see how it’s done and try it yourself! Join us to learn choreography to musical theater songs and astound yourself as you perform a full fledged dance number. No dance background necessary. Limit: 20 students. Tuition: $75.
