Concord Museum Forum: Sarah Johnson’s Mount Vernon

February 15, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

- Free

Few national landmarks are better known than George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Join the Concord Museum for special President’s Day forum, Monday, February 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm featuring Scott Casper discussing his book Sarah Johnson’s Mount Vernon which brilliantly recovers the life of Sarah Johnson, who spent more than fifty years at Mount Vernon, in slavery and after emancipation. Through her life and those of her family and friends, Dr. Casper provides not only an intimate picture of Mount Vernon during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries but also a window into a community of people who played an essential part in creating and maintaining the iconic historic site that attracts visitors from around the globe. The forum will also be an opportunity for the Concord Museum community to welcome Dr. Casper who was recently named the eighth president of the American Antiquarian Society.

To register for this Museum Forum go to www.concordmuseum.org. Participants will be sent a live link the day of the program. Donations help support the Museum’s Education initiatives. Books may be purchased at the Concord Book Shop. www.concordbookshop.com

This special Concord Museum Forum is in partnership with The Robbins House and the American Antiquarian Society. It is being sponsored in part by The Sally Lanagan Fund.
