Art in Bloom in Concord
January’s Art in Bloom in Concord collaboration of the Garden Club of Concord, Concord Art, and the Concord Museum will showcase floral designs interpreting original works of art. Garden Club members will create floral interpretations of entries in the exhibition Members Juried 1: Painting and Sculpture at Concord Art, and of the watercolors in the exhibition HOME: Paintings by Loring W. Coleman at the Concord Museum. The designs will infuse winter with the promise of spring and reflect the art that inspires them. On the eve of the 2021 presidential inaugural, the Museum is partnering with Mass Humanities on a virtual screening of a new film JFK: The Last Speech, which explores the dramatic relationship between two American icons—John F. Kennedy and Robert Frost. The documentary chronicles how JFK’s last speech in his home state of Massachusetts at the dedication of the Robert Frost Library at Amherst College on October 26, 1963 inspired a group of Amherst College classmates to lives of service. Concord Museum’s 8th Annual Sally Lanagan Lecture
Our 8th annual Sally Lanagan Lecture will feature gifted storyteller and bestselling historian H. W. Brands speaking on his new book, The Zealot and the Emancipator, recounting the epic struggle over slavery as embodied by John Brown and Abraham Lincoln—two men moved to radically different acts to confront our nation’s gravest sin.
