This course is based on Ron’s forthcoming book which compiles the wisdom of Ralph Waldo Emerson and other writers including Shakespeare, Margaret Fuller and Walt Whitman. In their words, and Ron’s, the meaning and demands of good character are explored, creating a rich and entertaining view of the ideals and balances that support personal development. The class will discuss one of the five chapters in the book each week: Aspirations, Circumstances, Relationships, Feelings, and Resources. An electronic edition of Character and Self will be provided; paper copies may be purchased.
