Author Talk: Valerie Abrahamsen (Main)

July 9, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

Is there life after death? For three years, Valerie Abrahamsen, ThD, researched four types of evidence of the afterlife: scientific instruments and techniques, near-death experiences, reputable psychics and mediums, and out-of-body experiences. A Harvard Divinity School scholar, Abrahamsen believes that the results of her investigations confirm the reality of reincarnation, karma, and pre-birth decisions as well as show that our deceased loved ones know what we are up to and do not miss out on important life events. Join the conversation to learn how those who have crossed over have ways of communicating that we can access. Discover why the reality of life after death means that our lives in the physical world have deep meaning and intimately impact what awaits us “on the other side.”

CCHS alumna Valerie A. Abrahamsen, Th.D. (Harvard Divinity School), is an independent scholar, lecturer and retreat leader living in southern Vermont. Her primary research interests are women in antiquity and New Testament archaeology, especially the site of Philippi, Greece. She is the author of Paranormal: A New Testament Scholar Looks at the Afterlife (2015); Goddess and God: A Holy Tension in the First Christian Centuries (2006); and Women and Worship at Philippi: Diana/Artemis and Other Cults in the Early Christian Era (1995). She has published articles in The Oxford Companion to the Bible, The Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion, Women in Scripture: A Dictionary of Names and Unnamed Women in the Hebrew Bible, Apocrypha, and New Testament, Biblical Archaeologist and The Journal of Higher Criticism, and is a book reviewer for Anglican and Episcopal History. She blogs bimonthly at WisdomWordsPPF.org on social justice issues, early church history and paranormal research.
