Registration is open for a pair of lectures this fall by historian Gary Hylander, “America by the Book.” Through the lens of literature, Dr. Hylander will examine the cultural, political and historical issues that link imaginative literature to the texture of their times. Talks will be held Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. at the Gleason Public Library, 22 Bedford Road in Carlisle. September 26: Uncle Tom’s Cabin. October 3: The Grapes of Wrath. Reading the book is not a prerequisite.
