Saltbox Kitchen

We are a casual farm-to-table café, Concord’s only craft brewery and a Best of Boston-winning caterer. Our seasonal, globally-inspired menus feature fresh ingredients from Saltbox Farm, Chef Ben Elliott’s family farm built by his grandparents in the 1940s. In all that we do, we are committed to continuing the traditions of agriculture, family and community that have always been a part of Ben’s family and of Saltbox Farm.

This is one of my go to to grab lunch. Today I was there at 9 AM for breakfast. Service is always wonderful. But we had kale cheese frittata and a crumb cake. Just delicious as I was leaving I bought a miniature lime tart with meringue on top. We had it for dessert tonight and I’ve never tasted meringue quite like that. Their baked goods are superb. Highly recommend this wonderful little spot in West Concord Village.

I planned a private event at Saltbox Kitchen for my global team and it could not have gone more perfect. It was very easy to coordinate the menu and details with the Catering Manager. She will make sure you don't miss all the fine details. The service was on point and the atmosphere was inviting. My global colleagues were very happy with the variety of the menu and delicious food. We truely had a lovely night out at Saltbox. This is a great spot if you want to be out of the city but still have an elevated menu. There is nothing better than having the place all to yourself for a special evening.

Very cute cafe in Concord with good food. Only downfall is that it is overpriced. Needless to say, I would still come again.

Lovely place for a late afternoon coffee with a friend in a charming neighborhood of Concord. Would definitely return.

Hard to characterize this place. Layout is like a coffee shop but they also serve alcohol and have a decent selection of soups and sandwiches salads, etc. as well a brewing their own beer. It was pretty busy when I went there at 11:30am on a Friday but no problem getting a seat at a common long table. Nice touch was linen napkins and real silverware.

One of my favorites now in Concord! The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. We were a group of 7 people and they reserved a table for us even though they generally don’t take reservations. The menu has various options, even for vegetarian and gluten-free ones. Will come back soon!

The best lunch I’ve had in my life. Oh my gosh.. the chopped banana peppers and fresh veggies on my Italian sub were amazing but the ketchup! Let me know when you start selling your ketchup .. it was the best ketchup I’ve ever tasted in my life. 10/10

Best grilled cheese I've ever had. I dream about it. Cute vibes. Great location. Not huge but I got a spot just fine to sit.

Basically I’m there every week, probably twice a week. Food is amazing, local and sophisticated. Pastries and coffee are also great. Best place in town for breakfast and lunch… oh and they make their own beer :)

This place has great food and friendly service. The burger was cooked perfect and everything else was great too! Highly recommended, even at first glance when the prices seemed high.

You know what I love about Saltbox Kitchen? The food comes from a credible source and you can feel confident that it's all cooked with clean ingredients. Too much restaurant food is cooked with oils and GMO ingredients that we don't have enough research on. This place has it's own farm, raises its own meat, and grows its own herbs/vegetables. For someone with a sensitive stomach, I can always come here and get a great meal without the worry of getting a stomachache. Plus, they brew their own beer too!

Excellent food and very nice and chill atmosphere along with super nice staff. Even coming from San Francisco, we thought the food very impressive!

First time trying this place - it's adorable and I'm excited to come back to try some of the other facets (cocktails/pastries/etc). Had the pork belly banh mi which was sublime; only marred by the fact that the outer edges of the otherwise fantastic pork were kinda over-charred. It was still a completely delicious non-traditional take on the theme. Also want to call out the iced coffee - dark and rich but super smooth. I love places where you can drink the iced coffee black, and this definitely hit the mark for me.

quality food - fresh taste - cool ambiance - loved this place! Definitely going back.

This was a lucky find while in the area for an appointment. Very busy at lunchtime, to the extent the staff had trouble keeping the tables cleaned as they were vacated. I think you are supposed to buss your own table (we did) though it’s not clear and if so, many visitors don’t realize that. We had to clear the junk off a table to take a seat. If that’s the expectation, a few signs would help alert visitors. The food was fresh and excellent. Best burger I’ve had in a long long time. It was served rare vs. the medium rare I ordered, but I’d rather undercooked than overdone. My mates also liked their food very much. I enjoyed a pint of house brown ale, and it left me wishing I had the time to hang out and have another. The ambiance is bright and trendy, with windows on two sides. Lots of tables and a bar to eat at. The staff were patient and friendly. Despite the lunchtime crush we didn’t have to wait very long for our food. Prices are on the high side, but probably par for the course these days for this level of quality. This is the sort of one of a kind neighborhood joint I love to find when I’m in an unfamiliar area. It’s well worth stopping in.

Slightly quirky menu, and not cheap. But very good ingredients well prepared. Easy seating on Wednesday. Very, very busy on the weekend. It's on our shortlist.

A wonderful small brewery with a pleasant atmosphere. I had a variety of appetizers and their Oktoberfest beer and was delighted by both. The staff went out of their way to make my wife and I welcome.

Not enough stars to express our feelings about this lunch experience while passing through. Keep up the great work. We only hope we have a chance to come back again some day from PA.

Thoroughly impressed as I passed by this place many times and originally thought better of going in! In fact the café/seat yourself vibe, the authentic and creative takes on global and local favorites, and the casual but elevated ambiance really make for an excellent dining experience that won't even break the bank! The food is delicious and there are options for everyone!! Supporting local farms as well!!

Nice downtown kitchen and nano brewery. Atmosphere doesn't lend itself to lingering. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Beer selection is limited but well made.

Great flavors and care put into the food, although on the high end of pricey. I love well portioned food, but the portions can vary so ask before ordering (soup bowls are more like a small cup at $10). Coffee is very good and the ginger scones are worth the drive alone. It's definitely a treat, and more suitable for grown ups. Bonus that you can pick up a bottle of wine here for the night. Order ahead if you don't want to wait. Limited seating.

Great food. Great coffee. Great decor. This is my go-to lunch spot in Concord!

Farm to table menu, fresh, well prepared. The kitchen accommodates preferences and allergies. Excellent chef and attention to detail.
Catherine Dixon   October 2, 2021
My grandmother and I had delicious scones and some cold brew coffee (mine regular and hers decaf). We sat outside. If they had more outdoor seating that would be nice, but they did keep many doors and windows open for ventilation indoors too.

This place has style. As soon as you walk in there is something in the air where you know good things are going to happen. 1. Get the chocolate chip cookies. I ordered one and immediately came back and got two more. 2. Food was great. I did takeout and when I opened the paper box my burger looked just as good and the presentation was taken into consideration. I really enjoyed this place and will be back. Highly recommend!

I found this place when I was going to pick up samples for my wedding cake in town, and was starving. So glad I stopped here. everything is clearly so well and handmade. The ketchup alone is amazing. I absolutely will be back again and again and again.

Best salad ever. I believe it was buratta with endive and grapefruit. Grab and go at the register. It is always such a pleasant experience.

I've decided to give this place a second chance. They did not let me down. Thank you for bringing back wholesome farm fresh cuisine. One caveat though, please reconsider some of your wine selections.

Delightful farm to table restaurant. Bonus points for making their own beer in house. Pictures in this review was the flight consisting of their farmhouse ale, a seasonal (stout), experimental (raspberry cream ale) and IPA. Food was delicious too. The short rib was very tender and perfectly cooked to melt in your mouth. A little pricey but worth it

This spot is worth trying. They serve big portions for affordable rates. Always well kept and with good character. Will come back again.
Hector Constantzos   January 31, 2020
Very quaint location. The clam chowda was excellent and the pork dish (I don't remember what it was called) outstanding. The beer selection had a great variety for all taste buds. I'm an IPA guy, NE IPA preferred. Though the Spruce Ale didn't have the strength of an IPA, it packed a lot of character.

This was a delightful little find. Combination micro brewery and farm to table restaurant. Not a big place but everything was very good. We started with soft shell crab with salad and Maine mussels. The crab was fantastic and the salad was a nice complement, with an unusually large head of asparagus (which I would have expected to be tough- but was delicate and delicious). The mussels and broth were seafood sweet, and makes you wish for a loaf of bread and a bigger belly. For entrees, I had deep dive scallops which were seared to perfection, preserving both the flavor and tenderness of the meat, over green beans. My partner had the strawberry pistachio salad with a deep fried goat cheese, which made for a filling dinner. The craft brews were interesting and satisfying. We tried 5 between us, at the suggestions of our waitress, who was knowledgeable and which worked well. Looking forward to coming back.
