Paste paper is one of the earliest forms of surface decoration. In the contemporary context, mixed media artists are finding new uses beyond the traditional book arts. This is a fun, fast-paced decorative art with its true nature seated within the realm of printmaking. As with monoprints, each paste paper is unique.

With an open studio feel – we’ll meet and greet, talk about the history of paste paper and an overview of the process, and then we’ll get busy. Each day of this workshop will begin with 2 hours of paste work as an artistic stretch. The perfect amount of time for color and texture play along with design planning for the projects. We’ll apply colors mixed with a thick paste using a variety of tools. Custom color choices, tool-making tips and a wide variety of papers will be available. Open to everyone ages 18 & up, all media and skill levels.
