The Greeley Scholar for Peace Studies Award honors a distingquished advocate for peace, noted humanitarian or faith leader. The 2023 Scholar, Ms. Dayani Barla, will speak at First Parish in Concord about her work. Her activism is located at the intersection s of environmental justice, gender justice and indigenous people’s right to self-determination. Her struggle to stop efforts to projects that destroy forests and water that are integral to indigenous people’s survival and sustenance are considered one of the longest and most successful anti-dam movements in India.
