This workshop is designed to enhance creativity through Soundpainting, a performance of words and music using gestures. This art, developed by composer Walter Thompson, fosters inter-disciplinary performance and is used by many improv theatre and avant-garde musicians in New York City and Paris. In a concert setting, an audience reacts to simple gestures from a composer-conductor (the “Soundpainter”) in 2-5 minutes, allowing for highly interactive improvisatory performance. Similarly, a group of performing artists can be taught to Soundpaint in less than an hour of intense rehearsal.
