Situated in the stunning Alpilles of Provence, 3 generations of the Cartier family have been quiet pioneers of the organic winemaking movement since the late 1960’s, joining Nature & Progrès in 1974. The wines, though unique, languished under the Coteaux d’Aix en Provence AOC for many years – an AOC generally associated almost exclusively with rosé . In 1995, the AOC Les Baux de Provence was born, and thus a home for the typicity of these special wines.

The climate amongst the rocky hillsides of Les Baux is at times almost arid, being largely hot, dry, and windswept. For this unique environment, however, it is a blessing, as this climate mitigates the ability of common vine pests and disease to take hold. Like many other regions renown for their wine, Les Baux is a place where olive and vine thrive together. You can almost smell the garrigue on the air!
