Patriots’ Day

April 15

This year is especially significant as our town prepares for 2025 and the ensuing 250th anniversary of those historic events. Both the 2024 and 2025 Parades will be organized and directed by the Concord250 Parade Committee, a recently formed entity that will work in conjunction with the Concord Public Ceremonies and Celebrations Committee to oversee and execute the Patriots Day Parade and Bridge ceremony.

This year, the Town’s parade will be held on Patriots Day, Monday, April 15, 2024, with step-off at 9:00 AM. Participants are to muster between8:15 – 8:30 AM at the Concord Armory (91 Everett Street). The parade route will cover a distance of 3.5 miles and follow a route through Concord Center, proceeding to the Old North Bridge for a brief ceremony commemorating the events and soldiers of April 19, 1775.  The entire event will last approximately three hours.

For 2024 we are introducing a parade concept to convey the parade’s purpose and to help shape its participants:

Recognition of the dedication and sacrifice of all those who fought for independence on April 19, 1775; the establishment of a new nation; and the progress we have made and continue to make to preserve, protect, and expand the foundational principles of self-determination, equality, and liberty for all people.

The Patriots’ Day Parade goes forward rain, snow or muck and covers a route of approximately 2.5 miles.  The Parade steps off from the Hunt Gym on Stow St.

At the North Bridge a wreath-laying ceremony is held to commemorate the engagement between the Minuteman companies and British troops on April 19, 1775. The parade continues across the North Bridge and returns to Concord Center, with Dignitaries participating from neighboring towns, the State, the nation, and foreign countries with ties to Concord.
