Recent paintings by Jill Goldman-Callahan on view in the Concord Library Main branch gallery 129 Main Street, October 1st-October 31st.

Jill’s paintings radiate atmospheric surfaces, alluring color and unexpected compositions. Her colors are reminiscent of Morandi, her shapes conjure Diebenkorn and her imagistic ambiguity evokes Emily Dickinson.

Jill’s work uses homemade pigments from walnuts, ash, stones and coffee. Each painting is a portal, an emotional recognition, and a story told. Jill sees art as the imprint of one’s soul, viewers experience engagement with being, infused on paper.

For Jill, making art and making meaning with art has been essential since childhood. She earned a BA in Fine Art and Anthropology from Bennington College and a Masters in Art Therapy from Lesley University, She worked as an art therapist in community mental health and as an art teacher in Wellesley Schools, recently retiring to devote herself to painting at the Umbrella Arts Center in Concord Ma.
