In Person: Printing Without a Press

April 8 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Intro to Gel Plate Printing Workshop

Gel plate printing is a low cost and accessible monotype printing process that is ideal for creating papers for collage, bookmaking, cards or journaling as well as a final art prints. This is a fun experimental process that yields unpredictable and exciting results. Using a gel printing plate participants will learn best ways to apply acrylic paints and use a variety of tools for mark making, stenciling, masking and texturing to transfer onto papers. This process results in wonderful overlays of colors and patterns. We will experiment with a variety of papers including plain, pre-printed and other types of substrates. Students will have the opportunity to make and use their own stencils and mark-making tools. We will discuss the best methods for the care and feeding their gel plates. A separate materials fee will cover the variety of papers and other tools for the class to try out.

All levels of experience and curiosity are welcome!
