We are proud to share the following community event on December 20th, Brighten the Night, through William’s Be Yourself Challenge (WBYC).
WBYC is a local nonprofit dedicated to community events that bring people together for authentic, meaningful connection. It was founded by a group of Carlisle moms trying to support their grieving kids in the aftermath of William Shaw’s sudden death in 2019. We strive to shine a light on mental health and grief awareness.
About Brighten the Night:
We have organized an event called Brighten the Night. On December 20, 2023, we will celebrate William’s 14th birthday, remembering his life and his death as a community. We are selling luminary kits with his favorite colored green lights, and we’d like to see as many homes across our community lit up for the night. This year, we will also include a 15th bag, so that people can light a luminary in honor of someone who has died in their life.
So many young people carry William in their hearts, and need our support. Will you help us shine a light on grief awareness this holiday season?
Proceeds will fund a continuation of the speaker series focused on bringing awareness and support to childhood grief and mental health. More to come with dates, times and speakers.
Where to Buy Luminary Kits:
You can purchase a kit online at www.williamsbeyourselfchallenge.org You can also learn more about WBYC, our mission, and our inspiration – William Shaw – on our website.
