Much of Lyman’s work is about domestic life – past and present. She is drawn to objects and materials that carry messages from the home and from work in the home. Using these less traditional sculptural materials such as paper, cloth, thread and twine often means much problem solving.
In her Artist Demo, Lyman will discuss this work, her influences, motivations and process. She will show images both of her sculptural work and of her photography, along with examples of smaller sculptural pieces. There will be a hands-on demonstration of both Coptic bookmaking and the versatility of mending.
