The Umbrella Arts & Environment Program is pleased to present the Art Ramble 2018: “Nature Meets Narrative.” Exhibit artists respond to the Hapgood-Wright Town Forest with work that either draws on or inspires fictional or factual narratives related to these Concord woods. These narratives may be purely imaginative, or related to the history, seasonal changes, or the endemic flora and fauna of the forest. Underlying this exhibit is a belief in the ability of the natural world to fire the imagination, in the elemental role of active imagination in developing resourcefulness, and in fostering stewardship by forging connections through art and story. In our fairytales and fictions, we find hope and proof that difficulties may be overcome.
Join us Sunday, September 23 from 1-3pm at the benches by Fairyland Pond in Hapgood-Wright Town Forest for a Fan Fiction Story hour with exhibit artist Julie Nussbaum. The theme for this story hour is the wizarding world of Harry Potter! Grab a fellow witch or wizard and join us at this open mic event to share your fan fiction and to hear stories about fantastic creatures from the wizarding world!
The Umbrella Arts & Environment Program promotes a discovery of the arts, a passion for place and nature, and environmental responsibility. We sponsor an integrated program of community events including our signature Musketaquid Earth Day, Solstice Celebrations, adult and children’s classes, and public art installations.
