As Louisa May Alcott called him, Concord, Massachusetts’s “Pan” was born in Concord on July 12, 1817. He spent most of his short 44 years of life in Concord where he wrote works that linger today in their influence on the world. For two years, two months, and two days, Thoreau lived by the shore of Walden Pond in a one room cabin he built himself. He is perhaps most remembered for his second book, WALDEN: or, LIFE IN THE WOODS (published 1854 by Ticknor and Fields, Boston), and his essay “Civil Disobedience”.
This event will be outdoors and is weather dependent. Please check Barrow Bookstore’s Facebook page closer to the date for weather updates.
