Join Sharon Ryan, Ph.D., a PreK-2 Literacy & Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator, as she speaks with parents of children age 3-5 about the kinds of activities families can enjoy together to nurture literacy development and fine motor skills. A packet of information which includes a rhyming book that Dr. Ryan will use during the presentation, playdoh, scissors, and other fine-motor activity supplies is available for pickup at First Connections between now and February 8th.This webinar is open to all and free of charge. Dr. Ryan’s favorite quote: “Emergent literacy starts in the everyday interactions of children in their homes, in their communities, and in their preschools. The environment plays an important role in how children become literate, and emergent literacy reinforces the notion that literacy is a social process (Teal, 2017).
