SUMMARY:"Earthworks: Evolution" Ceramics Biennial Opens
DESCRIPTION:The Umbrella Arts Center of Concord\, MA presents its second Ceramics Biennial Exhibition\, “Earthworks: Evolution”\, a regional show celebrating the depth of history\, tradition\, and cultural expression in contemporary ceramics\, and the ways in which artists continue to expand the field through innovation and reinterpretation. \nAdmission is free and the Allie Kussin Gallery is open to all. Orr’s ceramics lushly blend historical\, functional roots with organic\, fluid forms that embrace gentle asymmetry. Inspired by nature and intuition\, her richly textured and colorfully glazed slip-cast surfaces evoke birds on the wing\, coral reefs\, and blooming flowers\, resulting in work that’s vibrant\, emotional\, and assured. \nFEATURED ARTISTS: Alice Abrams • Jack Abramson • Chris Archer • Ben Babcock • Becky Bailey • Sasha M Bergmann • Heather Binder • Josephine Burr • Bob Callahan • Loring Cheney • Claire Corey • Julie Cunningham • Holly Curcio • Christine DeGennaro • Natasha Dikareva • Helen Duncan • Larry W Elardo • Katie Fee • Debra Fleury • Molly Frantz • Leslie Fry • Fionnuala Hart Gerrity • Pam Golden • Joan Hilton • Alexandra Hogan Kosciak • Lindsey McFarland Howarth • Tom Hubbard • Kyle Johns • Hillary Ellen Kane • Grace Kerr • Yeonsoo Kim • Lucien Koonce • Gwendolyn Lanier • Jaeok Lee • Warren Mather • Jennifer McCandless • Eliane Medina • Donna Namnoum • Elizabeth Ocean • Shyanne Ogilvie • Linnea Pappas-Byers • Jenny Peace • Julie Peck • Ingrid Raab • Andrew Robinson (boats by drew) • Ellen Schön • Kimberly Scott • Corran Shrimpton • Anne Thiam • Joan Zagrobelny \nOpen through June 28

SUMMARY:What's Going On Here? Liminal Spaces Where Art and Nature Intersect
DESCRIPTION:“What’s Going On Here? Liminal Spaces Where Art and Nature Intersect” featuring work by Linda Booth Sweeney\, Linda Ziemba & Jamie Collins. \nOpening Reception: June 10\, 3 – 5 PM (RSVP appreciated) | Exhibition Dates: May 29 – June 28\, 2026 \nJoin us for light refreshments starting at 3 PM and an Artists’ Talk at 3:30 PM. Families and children welcome. This event is free and open to all. \nWhat’s Going On Here? is a three-part\, immersive installation that transforms The Umbrella Arts Center into a living\, breathing work of art—one that draws its energy from liminal spaces: vernal pools\, backyard edges\, cracks in city sidewalks… places where something unexpected is always about to happen. \nThrough habitable sculpture\, photography\, sound\, and story\, the lawn and the Wedge Gallery become a sequence of spatial\, visual and sensory encounters that invite visitors to enter\, pass through\, and dwell\, not just observe. \nLinda Ziemba composes space through Habitable Sculpture such as L’ Arc\, creating environments where ideas spark\, stories surface\, connections form\, and conversations carry beyond the moment. \nLinda Booth Sweeney\, a systems designer and writer\, brings the narrative spine of The Noisy Puddle\, a children’s story rooted in wonder\, interdependence\, and the surprising richness of small worlds. \nJamie Collins\, a graphic designer and photographer\, captures vivid portraits of macro life and uses photography in his exhibit Patio Life as a way to ponder the natural world\, asking questions such as: “Why is the wasp eating the wood chair?” \nLearn more and RSVP at TheUmbrellaArts.org/whats-going-here \nJune 1-28
