SUMMARY:"Earthworks: Evolution" Ceramics Biennial Opens
DESCRIPTION:The Umbrella Arts Center of Concord\, MA presents its second Ceramics Biennial Exhibition\, “Earthworks: Evolution”\, a regional show celebrating the depth of history\, tradition\, and cultural expression in contemporary ceramics\, and the ways in which artists continue to expand the field through innovation and reinterpretation. \nAdmission is free and the Allie Kussin Gallery is open to all. Her work has been placed in numerous public and private collections. Currently refining an accessible smokeless wood kiln\, she also teaches\, lectures\, and shows nationally and internationally. Orr’s ceramics lushly blend historical\, functional roots with organic\, fluid forms that embrace gentle asymmetry. SUMMARY:Exhibition Open House\, The Walden Woods Project Library
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wine/cheese open house for our new exhibition\, Rooted in the Woods: The Boundless Life and Writings of Henry David Thoreau \nAbout the exhibition: Henry David Thoreau lived a boundless life\, yet one that was deeply connected to nature; in particular\, the woods surrounding Walden Pond. The Walden Woods Project Library is positioned in that same forest where Thoreau discovered his love of the natural world. This is the first of two exhibitions curated in connection with the Ewers Brothers Production\, Henry David Thoreau\, executive produced by Ken Burns and Don Henley\, which premiered on March 30\, 2026 on PBS stations nationwide. These exhibitions utilize the rich primary materials mined from The Walden Woods Project Library Collections and The Thoreau Society Collections. \nPart I\, “Who he was\, what he stood for” focuses on Thoreau’s early adulthood and his emergence as a writer. It explores how the forces of society\, family\, friends\, the Transcendentalist movement\, and his time at Walden Pond helped shaped his writings and philosophies. Part I will run from May 15\, 2026 to March 31\, 2027. \nVisitors can enjoy wine/cheese and light hors d’oeuvres on the patio of the Higginson House and embark on a self-guided tour of the new exhibition in the library at your leisure. \nWhen: Friday\, June 12\, 2026\, 6:30-8:30 pm EST. \nWhere: The Walden Woods Project Library\, Lincoln\, MA (address provided upon registration)
