SUMMARY:Buttrick Garden Tours
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free tour of the Buttrick Gardens at Minute Man National Historical Park. We’ll discuss the history and preservation of these beautiful gardens and find shady spots to view the plantings and historic images.\n\n\nBeginning in 1911\, two generations of the Buttrick family tended and enlarged the formal gardens until 1962\, when the National Park Service purchased the property. Stewards of the land since the colonial period\, the Buttrick family was proud that their gardens stood near the historic muster fields of April 19\, 1775. The eclectic gardens feature viewing terraces\, steps leading down to the Concord River\, elegant wrought ironwork\, and brick\, bluestone\, and cobblestone walkways. Framed by ornamental trees and shrubs\, the garden beds contain the Buttrick family’s award-winning iris and daylilies\, colorful spring bulbs\, and perennials that bloom from spring to fall. \nTours are rain or shine\, so bring an umbrella if needed! In the case of thunderstorms or heavy rain\, we will meet inside the North Bridge Visitor Center. Free parking is available. \nREGISTRATION REQUIRED\, SPOTS ARE LIMITED: friendsofminuteman.org/events \nDATE: Thursday\, May 28 \nTIME: 10 – 11 AM \nLOCATION: Minute Man National Historical Park\, North Bridge Visitor Center\, 174 Liberty Street\, Concord\, MA 01742 \nACCESS: Parking is accessible. The garden tour includes uneven surfaces and stairs. \n  \nPhoto courtesy of the Friends of Minute Man National Park \nThis program is offered by the Friends of Minute Man National Park and Minute Man National Historical Park as part of the Hidden Treasures Festival of Nature\, Culture & History\, an annual month-long celebration showcasing events and activities hosted by local partners celebrating the unique places\, objects\, and stories of the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area. SUMMARY:2026 DEI Commission Community Survey
DESCRIPTION:Concord has a new question for its residents\, and it’s a simple one: how are you doing? \nThe town’s Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Commission has launched a community survey to find out what it actually feels like to live\, work\, or study in Concord. Not what we assume. Not what we’ve always heard. What people actually experience day to day. \nThe survey covers topics like whether people feel welcome in town spaces\, whether they’ve encountered barriers accessing services or opportunities\, and how connected they feel to the broader community. It takes about ten minutes\, and anyone who spends time in Concord is encouraged to take it\, whether you’re a longtime resident\, a recent arrival\, a student\, or someone who works here but lives somewhere else. \nWhy does this matter? Because good decisions require real information. The Commission can’t advocate for a more inclusive Concord without understanding where people feel included and where they don’t. \nThis survey is how we start that conversation. \nIt’s anonymous and it’s open to everyone who lives\, works\, or studies in Concord. If you want to share it\, the hashtag is #youbelonginConcord.
