SUMMARY:Concord Festival of Authors: Mystery Night 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Library present Mystery Night 2026\, featuring Joseph Finder\, Jule Selbo\, and Janet Raye Stevens! The panel will be moderated by long-time Mystery Night Moderator Kate Flora. \nKate Flora’s fascination with people’s criminal tendencies began in the Maine attorney general’s office. Deadbeat dads\, child abusers\, and employment discrimination aroused her curiosity about human behavior. The author of twenty-four books spanning genres including crime fiction\, true crime\, memoir\, nonfiction\, and short stories\, Flora’s been a finalist for the Edgar\, Agatha\, Anthony\, and Derringer awards and twice won the Maine Literary Award for crime fiction. She’s a former international president of Sisters in Crime\, and a founder of the New England Crime Bake and Maine Crime Wave mystery conferences. She blogs with the Maine Crime Writers. When not conducting research for her novels and nonfiction\, Kate can often be found in her garden\, waging war against the woodchucks and her husband’s lawnmower. She divides her time between Maine and Massachusetts. The CFA Team thanks Kate for her many years leading Mystery Night! \nJoseph Finder is the New York Times bestselling author of 17 suspense novels\, most recently The Oligarch’s Daughter (2025). His previous novel\, House On Fire\, is the fourth featuring “private spy” Nick Heller. His books have won numerous awards\, including the Strand Critics Award for Best Novel for Buried Secrets (2011)\, the International Thriller Writers Award for Best Novel for Killer Instinct (2006) and the Barry Award for Best Thriller for Company Man (2005). The Boston Globe has called him a “master of the modern thriller.” Two of his novels have been made into major motion pictures\, including High Crimes\, adapted into the hit 2002 movie starring Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman; and Paranoia\, the 2013 film starring Harrison Ford\, Gary Oldman\, and Liam Hemsworth. A founding member of the International Thriller Writers\, as well as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Association of Former Intelligence Officers. Joe is a graduate of Yale and the Harvard Russian Research Center. He lives in Boston. \nJule Selbo is the author of the Dee Rommel Mystery Series (10 DAYS\, 9 DAYS\, 8 DAYS\, 7 DAYS\, 6 DAYS) and\, yes\, the plan is to get down to 1 DAY. They have received starred Kirkus reviews and multiple awards (including the Silver Falchion\, Clue and Foreword\, and Maine Literary Award nominations). She has also written three historical fiction books\, Find Me in Florence\, Breaking Barriers – The Life of Laura Bassi\, and Dreams of Discovery – The Life of John Cabot. Her short stories can be seen in Thriller Magazine and Alfred Hitchcock Magazine. She was a writer/co-executive producer on multiple TV series and has written features for Disney\, Paramount\, Fox and other studios\, including The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles\, Hercules\, Melrose Place\, and many more. A native of Fargo\, North Dakota\, Jule now lives in Portland\, Maine. \nMeet award-winning author Janet Raye Stevens/Evie Kelley – mom\, tea-drinker (okay\, tea guzzler)\, and weaver of smart\, suspenseful\, stealthily romantic tales. As Janet Raye Stevens\, she writes both short- and novel-length mysteries and historical suspense\, including the WWII-set Daphne du Maurier award-winning A Moment After Dark and the Beryl Blue\, Time Cop series. Writing as Evie Kelley\, she’s recently released the first in a young adult sci-fi suspense series\, The Nascent Bloom: Book 1 Caught\, a Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award finalist and Claymore Award Top Pick. Janet/Evie lives\, writes\, and drinks copious amounts of tea at her home in central MA. \nFor more information on the Concord Festival of Authors\, please visit www.concordfestivalofauthors.org.

SUMMARY:Umbrella presents " I and You"
DESCRIPTION:THE STORY\nA homebound teen and an unexpected visitor clash over a Walt Whitman assignment that will lead them to a stunning epiphany. Caroline is sharp-witted\, guarded\, and sardonic as Anthony is athletic\, sensitive\, and popular\, but as they debate ecstatic poetry\, life and love\, youth and mortality\, they discover they are more connected than they may seem. SUMMARY:One Man\, Two Guvnors
DESCRIPTION:Set in 1963 Brighton\, England\, financially-strapped Francis Henshall has taken on the job of servant to Roscoe Crabbe\, a small-time East London hood. However “Roscoe” is really his twin sister Rachel…who has been posing as her own dead brother…who had been killed by her own boyfriend\, Stanley Stubbers…for who Francis also works as his servant.\nThe hilarity never stops in this award-winning slapstick farce in its knockabout quest to answer these simple questions:\nHow can one man (especially Francis!) serve two masters without either of them finding out about the other? Can he pursue the girl he fancies? And\, somehow\, can he get a decent meal in the process? \nPerformances: November 6\, 7\, 13\, 14\, 20 & 21 at 8:00 pm and November 8 & 15 at 2:00 pm.\nTickets and more information: concordplayers.org or call 978-369-2990

SUMMARY:On Being Human: Mosaic Meditations by Cynthia Fisher
DESCRIPTION:September 18 – December 20\, 2026 in the Allie Kussin Main Gallery \nOpening Reception: Tuesday\, October 6\, 6 – 8 PM (RSVP appreciated)\nMosaic Activity: during Free Family Day\, Saturday\, October 10\, 2 – 4 PM (registration appreciated)\nArtist Talk: Saturday\, November 7\, 3 – 4 PM (RSVP appreciated) \nDriven by curiosity and a background in Wildlife Biology\, Cynthia Fisher has created varied and philosophical works that seek to elevate mosaics beyond the world of craft and into fine art. Through inspiring cultural conversations\, Fisher aims to engage the viewer in questioning our impact on the natural world. \nUtilizing a wide range of materials\, including vitreous glass and broken pottery\, the tactile and textured nature of the medium forces us to share the space. Prompting questions about how we currently engage with the world around us and how it may engage with us. Through her works\, she explores our environmental impact on our planet\, addressing not only the greatness of human life\, but our responsibility towards the natural world. \n“I do have reasons for hope: our clever brains\, the resilience of nature\, the indomitable human spirit\, and above all\, the commitment of young people when they’re empowered to take action.” – Jane Goodall \nLearn more at theUmbrellaArts.org/being-human \nThe Umbrella Arts Galleries are free and open to all.

SUMMARY:The Great Pumpkin Smash
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a smashing good time at the 6th Annual Great Pumpkin Smash at Codman Community Farms! Enjoy a fun day on the farm with pumpkin smashing\, farm fresh food\, ice cream sandwiches\, and live music by the Honey Steelers. This family-friendly event is all about having fun while also making a positive impact on our planet. \nWe’ll have refreshments and snacks available for purchase in the pavilion throughout the event including wood fired cheese or pepperoni pizza by the slice from 12-2pm or until we sell out! \nWhy Smash Your Pumpkins? \nDid you know that composting your Halloween pumpkins can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions? When pumpkins end up in landfills\, they break down and produce methane\, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. Don’t let your Halloween creations meet this grim fate! Give them the chance at a second life by recycling them into soil! \nPrepare your pumpkins for smashing by removing any stickers\, candles\, and other decorations. Please leave your painted pumpkins at home. Suggested donation of $1 per pumpkin to benefit our host\, Codman Community Farms. \nThis event is organized by: Codman Community Farms\, Mothers Out Front Concord and Weston Community Children’s Association (WCCA). \nVolunteers (adults and students) welcome! Please out the volunteer form (https://forms.gle/rbp9eEpg6QXVt5FH8) or email info.ma.concord@mothersoutfront.org
