SUMMARY:West Concord Art Loop
DESCRIPTION:The second annual West Concord Art Loop is a temporary public art initiative that transforms sidewalks in West Concord village into an accessible\, outdoor gallery featuring 130 original artworks by local artists of all ages and experience levels. Using custom\, weather-resistant pavement decals installed throughout the retail district\, the project encourages pedestrian exploration across downtown West Concord.\n\n\nLEARN MORE ABOUT THE WEST CONCORD ART LOOP! \nDATE: The installation will run from mid-May to mid-November\, with a special ribbon-cutting and Art Loop scavenger hunt with prizes on Spring Into West Concord Junction Day\, May 16 from 10 AM  to 3 PM. \nTIME: Dawn to Dusk \nLOCATION: Decals will be placed on both sides of Commonwealth Avenue from Main Street to Laws Brook Road. The Art Loop may be started at any point along the route\, but it is recommended to begin at the West Concord Train Station\, 20 Commonwealth Avenue\, Concord\, MA 01742. \nACCESS: The West Concord Art Loop is ADA compliant. DESCRIPTION:2026 Commemoration Events\nMonday\, May 25\, 2026 \nThe Concord Public Ceremonies and Celebrations Committee (CPCCC) cordially invites all Concord veterans and members of the public to the annual Memorial Day Commemorations\, which will be held on Monday\, May 25\, 2026 \n\n9 am Rideout Field\n11 am Monument Square\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\nThe West Concord Memorial Day Remembrance commemorations will begin at Percy A. Rideout Field at 9:00 am\, then proceed to Kenneth J. Dunn Square. The Concord Independent Battery\, Concord Minutemen\, Concord Police Honor Guard and members of the CPCCC will participate in the ceremony in conjunction with Town of Concord veterans. \n Commemorations will continue in Concord Center at 11:00 am\, at which time those same participants will proceed to the green on Monument Square and place commemorative wreaths at the various monuments. The Roll of Honor will be read. \nThe Concord Independent Battery will fire several times throughout the morning. \nTraffic Advisory\nWest Concord/Kenneth Dunn Square Ceremony – 9-10 am. Laws Brook Rd will be closed with traffic detoured down Conant St. Comm. Ave will be closed and detoured at rt. 2 rotary and Bradford St. \nConcord Center/Monument Sq Ceremony – 11 am-12:30 pm. Monument Sq will be closed and all connecting streets detoured. Please seek alternate route. \nSee maps at the links for details. \n9 am – West Concord Ceremony Route \n11 am – Concord Center/Monument Square Route \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHistory\nFor some\, beginning in 1775 and continuing today\, responding to the challenge of citizenship has also meant a period of service in the Armed Forces. More than 1\,400 men and women from Concord went to fight in WWII and about three hundred each to Korea and to Vietnam. Today\, almost 1\,000 Veterans live in Concord. Memorial Day is day for reflection and a time to honor and commemorate those service members who did not make it home\, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice\, giving their lives in our nation’s defense. \nThe CPCCC looks forward to your presence at these important events held in honor of those residents of Concord who sacrificed their lives in service to our community and our nation.
