SUMMARY:"Earthworks: Evolution" Ceramics Biennial Opens
DESCRIPTION:The Umbrella Arts Center of Concord\, MA presents its second Ceramics Biennial Exhibition\, “Earthworks: Evolution”\, a regional show celebrating the depth of history\, tradition\, and cultural expression in contemporary ceramics\, and the ways in which artists continue to expand the field through innovation and reinterpretation. \nAdmission is free and the Allie Kussin Gallery is open to all. The works in this exhibition will be available for purchase via ArtCloud.com after the opening reception; for earlier inquiries\, please reach out to Julia@TheUmbrellaArts.org.\nExhibition Dates: April 29 – June 28\, 2026\nOpening Reception: April 29\, 6:00 – 8:00 PM (RSVP requested)\nForm and Narrative on Elegantly Embossed Ceramics with Juror and Visiting Artist Lisa Orr: Workshop ($70) | Artist’s Talk (Free) – RSVP requested \nJUROR: Lisa Orr has been a studio potter for over 40 years. Orr’s ceramics lushly blend historical\, functional roots with organic\, fluid forms that embrace gentle asymmetry. SUMMARY:FAMILY GLASS WORKSHOP: Tack Fusing\, Bouquets & Landscapes
DESCRIPTION:FAMILY GLASS WORKSHOP: Tack Fusing\, Bouquets & Landscapes\nSaturday\, May 30\, 2:00pm – 4:00pm \nIn this 2-hour workshop\, adults and children will learn the basics of glass fusing by creating one tile each (8” x 8”) that will be kiln-fired at 1400 degrees – a low temperature that allows the glass elements of your design to stay three-dimensional. To create your composition\, you will work with powders\, frit\, confetti\, copper shapes\, stringers\, and glass pieces. Landscapes and flowers are popular sources of inspiration\, but you are welcome to explore other ideas. Your instructor will fire your creation in his own kiln. The glass creations will be returned within 2 weeks\, mounted in a white shadow box or frame\, ready to be proudly displayed on a wall\, a mantel\, or a tabletop. \nCost per adult/child pair is $165.00. The workshop is open to adults and children 7 and up. Max 10 pairs of student/guardian – additional student $45 cost. No previous glass experience is necessary.

SUMMARY:What's Going On Here? Liminal Spaces Where Art and Nature Intersect
DESCRIPTION:“What’s Going On Here? Liminal Spaces Where Art and Nature Intersect” featuring work by Linda Booth Sweeney\, Linda Ziemba & Jamie Collins. \nOpening Reception: June 10\, 3 – 5 PM (RSVP appreciated) | Exhibition Dates: May 29 – June 28\, 2026 \nJoin us for light refreshments starting at 3 PM and an Artists’ Talk at 3:30 PM. Families and children welcome. This event is free and open to all. \nWhat’s Going On Here? is a three-part\, immersive installation that transforms The Umbrella Arts Center into a living\, breathing work of art—one that draws its energy from liminal spaces: vernal pools\, backyard edges\, cracks in city sidewalks… places where something unexpected is always about to happen. \nThrough habitable sculpture\, photography\, sound\, and story\, the lawn and the Wedge Gallery become a sequence of spatial\, visual and sensory encounters that invite visitors to enter\, pass through\, and dwell\, not just observe. \nLinda Ziemba composes space through Habitable Sculpture such as L’ Arc\, creating environments where ideas spark\, stories surface\, connections form\, and conversations carry beyond the moment. \nLinda Booth Sweeney\, a systems designer and writer\, brings the narrative spine of The Noisy Puddle\, a children’s story rooted in wonder\, interdependence\, and the surprising richness of small worlds. \nJamie Collins\, a graphic designer and photographer\, captures vivid portraits of macro life and uses photography in his exhibit Patio Life as a way to ponder the natural world\, asking questions such as: “Why is the wasp eating the wood chair?” \nLearn more and RSVP at TheUmbrellaArts.org/whats-going-here \nJune 1-28

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: What’s Going On Here?
\nJamie Collins\, a graphic designer and photographer\, captures vivid portraits of macro life and uses photography in his exhibit Patio Life as a way to ponder the natural world\, asking questions such as: “Why is the wasp eating the wood chair?” \nLearn more and RSVP at TheUmbrellaArts.org/whats-going-here
