SUMMARY:A Presentation About Louisa Hawthorne by Kate Blair - March is International Women's Month
DESCRIPTION:Hawthorne cousin Kate Dike Blair explores the life and death of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s younger sister Louisa\, a frequent visitor to her brother at the Old Manse in Concord. Louisa drowned in the Henry Clay Steamboat disaster of 1852. Kate’s great-great-great-granduncle\, John Dike\, was traveling with Louisa\, but his wife\, Priscilla\, was not with them. What was their relationship\, and why did she die and he survive? Kate dives into Louisa’s place in her family and society\, and her mysterious death\, detailed in her historical novel\, The Hawthorne Inheritance. Please call the COA to reserve your spot at 978-318-3020.
