SUMMARY:A Grandparent’s Guide to Autism: Building Strong Connections and Bright Futures
DESCRIPTION:As our understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has continued to evolve over time\, more children are receiving a first-time diagnosis than ever before. When a grandchild receives an ASD diagnosis\, grandparents often have questions about what this means for their future as well as how to best navigate this journey alongside their adult children. This presentation is designed specifically for grandparents looking to deepen their understanding of ASD. We will explore how neurodiversity shapes a child’s world\, review common misconceptions about ASD and related diagnoses\, and share practical\, everyday tools to support their grandchild’s growth. A portion of this time will be used specifically to answer questions from the audience\, and a list of additional resources will be provided. \nThursday\, October 1st\, 10 am-12 pm at the Municiple Light Plant Conference Room. \nThis is a part of CCACE’s Village University programs. Classes are free of charge\, with a requested donation to support our scholarships & programs.

SUMMARY:Concord’s Climate Action & Resilience Plan Update at the Main Library
DESCRIPTION:The library has participated in CREW’s (Communities Responding to Extreme Weather) Climate Preparedness Week since 2019. This year’s theme\, Community Maxxing: Think Globally\, Act Locally\, highlights the many ways our community can take action on climate change. \nJoin Brad Dye and Brad Hubbard-Nelson of Concord’s Climate Action Committee to learn about the process currently underway to update Concord’s original 2020 Climate Action and Resilience Plan (CARP). The plan provides a framework for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building resilience to the impacts of climate change. Find out what Concord has and hasn’t accomplished and learn about proposed priorities for the next five years. Most importantly\, share your input! The Climate Action Committee wants to hear what climate efforts matter to you and welcomes your feedback. \nReview the draft plan at https://tinyurl.com/ConcordCARP and take the survey! \nNo registration required for this event. Can’t make it in-person? Watch Minuteman Media Network’s livestream: cfpl.info/CARPupdate.
