The Smallest Lights in the Universe: A Conversation with Sara Seager

May 11, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

- Free

Join Sara Seager, an astrophysicist and a professor of planetary science at MIT, as she discusses her memoir, The Smallest Lights in the Universe, in which she recounts her successful efforts to rebuild her life in the wake of tragedy — discovering the power of connection on this planet, even as she searches our galaxy for another Earth. After the unexpected death of her husband, Professor Seager finds solace in the alien beauty of exoplanets and the technical challenges of exploration. At the same time, she discovers earthbound connections that feel every bit as wondrous, when strangers and loved ones alike reach out to her across the space of her grief. Probing and invigoratingly honest, the memoir has been called “its own kind of light in the dark.”

Professor Seager’s memoir The Smallest Lights in the Universe is available from the Concord Bookshop.
