Safe Landing: Refugee Resettlement in Massachusetts Communities

October 20, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

- $35

Join CCACE & International Institute of New England (IINE) on October 20th at 7 pm at CCHS!

How do people upended by war, conflict, and natural disasters land in Massachusetts communities? What is the difference between a refugee, an asylee, and a parolee, and what does this difference mean?

Massachusetts welcomes thousands of individuals and families through humanitarian relief programs into our communities each year. Resettlement providers such as the International Institute of New England work with community members to provide a warm welcome and to respond to the needs of newly arrived populations. Join us to learn more about domestic refugee resettlement work, the connection between arriving populations and receiving communities, and find out more about how your community can contribute to efforts to give newcomers a secure and hopeful new beginning.

Three learning objectives:

Better understand U.S. federal and state humanitarian relief programming and provider services

Learn about current initiatives to welcome thousands of Afghan, Ukrainian, Haitian and other populations in Massachusetts, from a former refugee!

Learn about the International Institute of New England’s Resettle Together community partnership opportunity and how your community can get involved
