Spring is a wonderful time to look and listen for birds arriving. Red-winged Blackbirds are among the first of our feathered friends to return to their nesting grounds in the spring. In this class, we will draw a male and female Red-winged Blackbird and learn a bit about their migration, nesting habits, and where to search for them. We’ll focus on a variety of drawing techniques including wing feather structure, drawing puffy feathers, and how to show depth and dimensionality when drawing black feathers.
Materials: Please bring a few pieces of paper or a sketchbook, a graphite pencil, colored pencils if you have them, a pencil sharpener, and an eraser.
