A respiratory disease can affect the lungs, bronchus, or upper respiratory tract. Symptoms of a respiratory disease include wheezing, shortness of breath, spasms, coughing, or blood in your sputum. Respiratory diseases may be acute, such as in an infection, or they may become chronic. Some of the most common respiratory diseases are asthma, COPD, bronchitis, pneumonia, and pulmonary hypertension. Prevention is key to a healthy respiratory system. Please join Geriatric Health Nurse Valerie Boggia on Thursday, September 22nd at 1:00 PM for a Listen & Learn on Respiratory Diseases. Valerie will discuss the major diseases of the respiratory system, as well as causes, risk
factors, symptoms, diagnosis and treatments, along with preventive measures. Questions to ask your doctor will also be covered. Please call the COA to sign up for this in-person presentation at 978-318-3020.
