Reenactors from the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment – Encampment at The Robbins House

 Renactors from the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment (the first all Black regiment raised in the North during the Civil War) will be holding an encampment at The Robbins House on Saturday, July 26th from 10-4 pm. There will be tents, displays of regimental, state, and national colors as well as a campsite. Two formal programs will be presented at noon and 2:30 pm with informal programming throughout the day on the history of the 54th, individual soldiers’ stories, a firing demonstration, and an account of the role of the Ladies Relief Society. The 54th Massachusetts’ reenactors are dedicated to preserving the history of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry and Black soldiers in the Civil War. Come and learn more about this important Black history.
