Poetry at the Library: “Not What They Look At, But What They See”

February 9, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Joan Alice Wood Kimball reads from Early Light, her third collection. “With skill and courage, [she] isn’t afraid to cope with difficult themes, such as the passage of time and what it keeps, or annihilates.” ( X.J. Kennedy) A founder of the Concord Poetry Center and a member of Powow River Poets, Kimball runs poetry study groups at the Wayland and Concord libraries. A Smith College alumna, she lives in Concord.

In her debut chapbook, Model Home, Eve F. W. Linn tackles “life’s layered meanings, seeing undaunted through ‘the scrim of leaves,’ through the lens and scope of her art.” Linn received her B.A. cum laude from Smith College in Fine Art and her M.F.A. in Poetry from Lesley University’s Low Residency Program. A published poet and book reviewer, Linn lives in Carlisle. Author’s photograph: Bonnie Baker.

Jason Tandon reads from his acclaimed 4th poetry collection, The Actual World, “an aching, celebratory song of the everyday”. (Maggie Dietz) Tandon’s poems have been featured on NPR and have appeared in such journals and magazines as Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, Beloit Poetry Journal, North American Review, and Esquire. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Arts & Sciences Writing Program at Boston University.
