Young children thrive when they have clear and consistent boundaries, when they know what to expect from their caregivers, and when they know the adults are in control. Toddlers’ and preschoolers’ developing brains drive them to seek control and power, though, so they are constantly pushing the boundaries we set for them. In this presentation, Ellie Springer, M.Ed. Early Childhood, will talk about how to decide whether a battle is worth fighting, when to give your child SOME control, when and how to set a limit, and what to do when you get that inevitable pushback.
