Make it a Meaningful New Year!

January 19, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

- Free

Lara Jk Wilson and Nicole Grant of Be Well Be Here will hold a mindfulness session called “Make it Meaningful New Year!” at the Concord Free Public Library (129 Main Street) on Saturday, January 19 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

As reported in Dr. Dan Seigel’s latest book, Aware: The Science and Practice of Presence, “the scientific findings are in: your mind can change the health of your body and slow aging.” Knowing this, why do we struggle to integrate wellness practices into our lives? Join Nicole Grant, MS, C-IAYT, and Lara Wilson, MA, GCMS of Be Well Be Here to examine how cultural conditioning can block our best intentions, and how to open a path toward wellness. We’ll discuss how mindful wellness practices such as meditation, yoga, and creative arts create structural changes in the brain that reduce stress and enhance overall well-being. Please arrive with questions – and curiosity, a mindful practice in itself!

Lara JK Wilson, MA, GCMS:
A meditator for over thirty years, Lara’s practices explore how mindfulness and the creative process benefit health. In addition to completing a Master’s Certificate in Mindfulness Studies at Lesley University, Lara is an award-winning author of short stories and a Grub Street instructor and former board member with a master’s degree in literature from Harvard, Lara advocates incorporating mindfulness in all levels of education. She has developed mindfulness curricula for schools in the north and south, led mindful wellness retreats, and designed personal practice with hundreds. After experiencing the power of mindfulness during eighteen months of cancer treatment, Lara established Be Well Be Here, a non-profit collaborative mindful wellness center in Concord, MA.
