The Concord Free Public Library is partnering with The Umbrella Arts Center to offer two free drawing workshops for kids. Students in grades 2 – 5 can register for a workshop on Tuesday August 11 at 4 pm at this link: https://bit.ly/3cHlmcc. Students in grades 6 – 12 can register for a workshop on Wednesday August 12 at 4 pm at this link: https://bit.ly/2Bwso9n.
Instructor Alicia Herman will teach students about iconic posters involved in political movements including Rosie the Riveter, Uncle Sam’s Army Recruitment Poster, and Shepard Fairey’s Make Art Not War. Students will learn how to use bold designs to create their own poster, documenting their personal experience in this pivotal time. This class will give kids a creative outlet and a place where their ideas and experiences are visible and valued. Student-designed posters will be archived by the Concord Free Public Library and preserved to be shared with generations to come, as part of the Chronicling Concord through Covid-19 initiative.
This event is generously sponsored by The Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.
