Are you looking for a fun way to spend July 4th???
This is the place to be as a family, with friends, or just on your own!!!
Please come and join us for the 46th annual Picnic in the Park, held on the 4th of July, starting at 11:00 AM until 4:30 PM at Emerson Field!!! This is a family fun event, and a great event to come on your own or with friends, which has been held since 1965. It features plenty of music, kid’s rides, games, food and entertainment for all ages. Bring your own picnic basket and just relax on the grass, listen to music or enjoy some of the food from several local non-profit organizations. It’s a great way to enjoy the holiday with family and friends, or on your own, in a relaxing community social event.
A children’s bicycle parade, which is one of the highlights of the picnic, assembles at 11:15 AM in front of the Amory and kicks off at 11:30 AM. Many children in colorful costumes file into the park on bicycles, tricycles, toy strollers and doll carriages, decorated in the colors of the day, which are Red, White and Blue!!! The parade route follows the entire length of tree lined alley, all to the delight of the crowd. And celebrates our nation’s Independence Day while showing off the community’s patriotism!!
A fabulous music line-up is scheduled including: Rockabye Beats (children’s music) at 12:00 PM; Southern Rail Bluegrass Band at 1:00pm and, of course, The Concord Band at 3:15pm doing all America’s patriotic favorites.
So come and join your neighbors and show your pride, in an old fashioned, family and individual fun day of good clean, simple fun. Be there or be square!!!
Picnic is a great day for Concordians, as well as people from surrounding towns, who attend in great numbers. (an estimated approx. 3,000 people participate in the day). The Picnic is a lovely family time, with entertainment provided for both children and adults. This year a special children’s entertainment show in the Hunt Gym for the children will feature the very exciting Tanglewood Marionettes, a real favorite from prior Picnics. Field games and rides in a hot air balloon will, as always, be there for all to enjoy. The Concord Fire Department and Concord Police Department will jump in to help with demonstrations of the “Fire House”, all of this accompanied by the sounds of various musical groups and with the traditional finale by our own Concord Band.
