“Jerome Kern – All the Things Your Are” Presented by Bruce Hambro

May 24, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

- Free

Jerome Kern was the dean of the American Broadway musical composers during the early part of the 20th century. This presentation by Bruce Hambro celebrates the life and career of the “Legend of the Great American Songbook.” Kern is remembered as the composer of the landmark play, “Showboat”, whose score featured the songs “Old Man River” and “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man of Mine”. But Kern also composed a myriad of other classic songs including “The last Time I Saw Paris”, “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, “The Way You Look Tonight” and “All the Things You Are.” During this one hour audio-visual presentation, you will hear all these great songs and many more. The lyrics of some songs will be projected on a big screen and you’ll be encouraged to sing along! Bruce is a music and motion picture historian, a former school teacher and a former business manager and booking agent in the entertainment industry. This presentation is free of charge thanks to proceeds from the Harvey’s Treasure Chest Gift Shop. Please call the COA to grab your seat at 978-318-3020.
