Let’s dye with Indigo!

From the palest summer sky to an almost purple black, come learn how to transform any natural fiber with your favorite shade of blue. Cathy will show you fun and easy techniques for creating one-of-a kind Indigo textiles.

Please bring 4-5 textile items, such as t-shirts, tablecloths, cloth napkins, dresses, yardage, etc., made of natural cellulose fibers (cotton, linen, silk and/or rayon)to dye. You will be provided with sample fabric to experiment with. You can overdye colored things (make jeans darker!) and use rubber bands, boards, sticks, clothespins and string to create patterns on light colored (white or off-white) textiles.
You will leave the workshop with wet items to take home and given instructions and materials to finish off the process at home.
Your vat (bucket) is limited so larger and heavy items cannot be dyed (wool and synthetic materials cannot be dyed either).
A materials fee for your own Indigo dye kit is included in the price of the workshop.
